Most engaged couples just have a nice, classic wedding, with a white wedding gown, classic wedding cake, and everything is very nice, but nice and normal. A minority, however, are a little distinctive, and they choose to celebrate their difference through their weddings. You have only so many options to be distinctive in your celebration. You really only have the choice of a distinctive dress or a distinctive cake, and lots of couples opt to demonstrate their distinctiveness through having a very distinctive celebration cake. If you truly desire your celebration cake to say something distinctive, and you truly need to have something at your celebration that your guests will always remember, you should consider some of these distinctive celebration cakes for inspiration.

Actor Blair Underwood had a remarkably distinctive celebration cake at his celebration. It was a replica of the Eiffel tower! It was a six and a half foot affair, with real lights all up and down the tower. This cake has got to be one of the most, if not the most distinctive celebration cake in history. I can only imagine the the amount of work it took to make it.

One bride and groom had a square celebration cake that had two swans swimming on a pond on top of it, all crafted with icing. It was a incredibly grand cake, with ribbons and flowers adorning it as well. However, it was only one layer, so many brides and grooms may not desire a cake like this.

Another distinctive celebration cake one couple had was a "Shrek" cake. This bride and groom must have been big fans of the movie, because their cake was all about the movie, including the Shrek and Princess Fiona sculptures on top of the cake! This celebration cake had two layers, and on the bottom layer had a design of Donkey and the dragon, the other couple in the Shrek movies!

I have also seen some incredibly distinctive "box" celebration cakes. I don't mean that these cake were just shaped like a box; one of these celebration cakes was a three layered cake, and each of the layers was decorated like a different present, complete with bows. Another couple had a cake that was shaped and elaborately adorned as an open hat box, with flowers rising out of it.

One of the most distinctive celebration cakes that I have ever seen has to be a Chinese celebration cake. It was a three layered red cake, decorated with the most fantastic detail and fantastic icing flowers. Another distinctive celebration cake one bride and groom had was a Phantom of the Opera celebration cake. This one had just a single layer, and it was white, black and red, with the white mask sitting on top of black icing, and a red icing "cloth" draped over it.

Another distinctive and not often used celebration cake idea is a cupcake wedding cake. Simply buy a cupcake tree and bake and decorate cupcakes to place on it.
