HDTV Buying Guide
HDTV: Why You Need It Once HDTV or High Definition Television made its debut in 1998, the buzz was a brand new era in TV viewing experience was about to materialize. Its picture resolution and digital surround sound promises you'll feel like you were in the movie or show. HDTV: What Is It? HDTV digital technology surpasses the older analog sets, which we have been using for decades. The HDTV set you buy today will have a clearer and sharper screen image than analog television. Older televisions receive signals through waves and in the process, some of the data it receives will be lost. The digital transmission or broadcasts that LCD HDTV or plasma HDTV receives, preserves the picture quality. HDTV Superiority Analog television sets are functional today, but when digital broadcasting totally takes over in 2009, the only analog sets that will work are the ones that have a converter. Still, HDTV offers numerous benefits that an analog TV can't: It doesn't matter what the size of the screen is. HDTV will have better picture quality showing details even on larger screens. HDTV multicasting allows stations to broadcast several programs in one line. Viewers can participate in shows or movies, which have interactive content, such as games or contests. HDTV maximizes the use of all the pixels on its screen, whereas analog TVs use a small portion of the pixels available to it. Images and their brilliant colors are visible in HDTV broadcast. HDTV Minuses Although HDTV's are becoming more affordable, they are in general more expensive that regular analog sets. New sets will usually have built-in HDTV tuners. If you don't have a dish or satellite service hooked-up, then you may need to purchase a HDTV antenna if you wish to receive free local HD programming. Shopping For An HDTV? It's best to see HDTV for yourself. By studying HDTV reviews and listening to only good buying advice, you'll soon be enjoying a new way of watching television you've never seen before.
