<h1>A brief guide to Majorca</h1> Majorca or Mallorca is the largest Island of Spain and is located in the Mediterranean sea as part of the Balearic Islands. Like the other Balearic Islands, Majorca is a very popular tourist destination. The island is very popular with sun lovers and has 550km of sandy coastlines. Many tourists flock to the island during high seasons which is very good for the tourism industry but can be hard for locals. <br />The native people of Majorca speak a Caralan dialect called Mallorquin, but most also speak Castillian which is regular Spanish as well. As well as these two native languages, most locals who live in the tourist areas have learnt some European languages such as English, German and French. <br /><br />Most European city airports provide regular flights to Majorca with some of the budget airlines providing flights as regular as daily. <br />As well as by plane, you can travel to the island by ferry from one of the other Balearic Islands or from the Spanish coast. <br /><br />Once you arrive on the island you can get around by using the bus service, limited train service or hire a car. If you don’t fancy making your own way around, you should book onto one of the organised tours that many holiday companies will run.<br />There are plenty of activities and places to see while staying in Majorca. The beaches are once of the main draws of the island, most of the beaches on the southern and eastern coast can become very crowded in the high seasons as these are the most popular areas. Quieter beaches can be found but are usually hard to access and have limited parking and facilities. Other activities that can be enjoyed on the island include Hiking, cycling, golf and free classical music concerts.<br /><br />Spanish areas are well known for the dish paella, which is a rice based dish that contains chicken and seafood and is flavoured with saffron. The islands are also well known for the drink Sangria, which is a fruity wine based drink. <br />Accommodation can be found all over the island with a lot of it geared up for package holidays near the beaches. As well as these hotels you can stay in specialist designer hotels, apartments and villas. <br />Villas are a great way to stay on the island as they are often inexpensive and are often in more secluded areas.
