Surf Faster With Cable or DSL Service
As far as overall speed is concerned, Cable broadband is really the fastest in all manners. Averaging around 8mbps Cable is not even in the same ballpark as dial-up. This speed is a tremendous increase over that of dial-up. There is actually no comparison between the two when you look at the speeds at which they operate. Cable broadband is also very reliable and offers far less down time than that of your standard dial up service. Another advantage is the constant connection that Cable broadband service provides. Rather than having to dial into a service center to get a connection and potentially wait for hours, Cable keeps you connected to the internet at all times so there is never a delay in service. Cable broadband service operates through your cable television line. This provides the basis for the speed of the service as well as the reliability. The real con for the Cable broadband service is the price. You will find that it normally resides in the fifty dollar a month range which is very much more than the standard dial-up service would charge. However, the benefits that come with Cable broadband service make the price completely worthwhile. On the other side of the coin you have DSL. This type of broadband service is the sister to the Cable broadband service, but is not quite as good in the speed department. DSL operates through the standard land line phone connection in your home. Using a special modem, or router, the connection through the telephone line is changed from a standard dial up to that of the broadband connection. DSL doesn't necessarily require new wiring since it works through your standard land line. DSL, unlike Cable, is a dedicated line which makes it very reliable, alothough Cable and DSL are usually both much more reliable than dial-up. While DSL speed is a great improvement over that of dial up, it is still in general not as fast as Cable broadband service. About the AuthorComments
