Blowing hot and cold
Not anymore, air conditioning is installed in many homes and businesses across the North East and UK by Millennium Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. History of Air Conditioning The term air conditioning refers to the cooling and dehumidification of indoor air for thermal comfort. The concept of air conditioning is known to have been applied in Ancient Rome, where aqueduct water was circulated through the walls of certain houses to cool them. Modern air conditioning emerged from advances in chemistry during the 19th century, and the first large-scale electrical air conditioning was invented and used in 1902 by Willis Havilland Carrier. The idea of air conditioning started before a machine was created, to produce the cooling effect desired. Air conditioning as we know it today is a relatively new invention. Air conditioning also changed our relationship with nature itself by creating indoor artificial climates, shifting seasonal patterns of work and play, and making geographical differences environmentally insignificant. The attraction of air conditioning Air conditioning itself became an attraction, as people flocked to movie theatres to experience the new way to stay cool. Air conditioning in cars arrived in the 1940's. Air conditioning is commonly found in buildings today, but it was not always the case throughout history. While moving heat via machinery to provide air conditioning is a relatively modern invention, the cooling of buildings is not. Air conditioning engineers broadly divide air conditioning applications into comfort and process. Air conditioning also allows buildings to be taller since wind speed increases significantly with altitude making natural ventilation impractical for very tall buildings. Air conditioning technology evolved from this, to be applied in the regulation of temperature in rooms and buildings. The benefits of air conditioning Air conditioning can have a positive effect on sufferers of allergies and asthma. Air conditioning has no greater influence on health than heating—that is to say, very little—although poorly maintained air-conditioning systems (especially large, centralized systems) can occasionally promote the growth and spread of micro organisms, such as Legionella pneumophila, the infectious agent responsible for Legionnaire's disease, or thermophilic actinomycetes. Air conditioning is one of those amenities that's easy to take for granted if you have it, and-on a hot, humid summer afternoon-easy to covet if you don't as air conditioning takes indoor heat and pushes it outdoors. Air conditioning is not only used today to make our homes and other buildings more comfortable. Air conditioning is used to also filter out bad particles in the air, such as in hospital operating rooms. Air conditioning was, in days gone by, a preserve of the rich. Conclusion Air conditioning allowed cities to develop in deserts with Air conditioning and refrigeration is closely related to the living standard of people and is the most important engineering system in many types of buildings. Air conditioning has had an incredible impact on the way we live our lives and actually celebrated its 100th birthday last month. About the Author
