Unfortunately, there are other health conditions that can be related once you have an inflamed pancreas. There is more to it than pain, nausea, and vomiting. Therefore, it is advised that if you have experience either an acute or chronic pancreatitis, have your condition checked by a professional. You must do this in order to know if there are health conditions or complications that are involved in your current situation. Although most of the time the pancreas goes back into its normal state and the pain usually goes away fast, you must be aware that there are more severe health conditions that are associated with a simple pancreatitis.

The first on the list is the Pancreas Divisum. This is an anomaly that is already present by the time the person is born wherein two ducts are draining the pancreas. There is no specific symptom whether a person has a pancreas divisum or not. Therefore, a pancreas divisum is usually left undiagnosed. The good thing is that the congenital anomaly does not require any treatment as long as they have not experienced any symptoms. However, some people who are affected by pancreas divisum may experience severe abdominal pain even if they do not have pancreatitis.

Another related health condition with pancreatitis is the Pancreatic Cyst. This is the collection of fluid in the tail, in the body, or in the head of the pancreas. Some of the cysts in the pancreas do not produce any symptoms or what they call the benign pancreatic cyst. But it is also possible that some pancreatic cysts can turn into a precancerous cyst. On the other hand, there are some cysts that are cancerous. Different cysts also mean that are there are different kinds of fluids secreted by the cysts. A mucinous cyst has mucus while the pseudocyst have high amount of digestive enzymes (amylase).

Cystic fibrosis or also known as the Mucoviscidosis can sometimes be associated with pancreatitis. If a person has a cystic fibrosis it is also possible that his or her pancreas no longer secretes the important digestive enzymes into the person’s intestine. As a result, the fats and the nutrients food the food that the affected person eats cannot be absorbed by the body. Moreover, cystic fibrosis is also associated in other health conditions such as infection in the lungs, cor pulmonale, emphysema, infertility among males, and more.

And last but certainly not the least, gallstone has long been associated with pancreatitis. As a matter of fact, gallstone is one of the two major causes why the pancreas becomes inflamed. The other prime cause of pancreatitis is alcohol abuse. Gallstones are the stones that are formed at the bile or the gall. This obstructs the pancreatic juice coming from the pancreas. As a result, the pancreas will become inflamed. Although the inflammation is usually mild, it is still possible that it will lead to chronic illness or even death. One way of treating gallstone is through the process called cholecysectomy where the gallbladder will be removed surgically.
